In order to capture someone’s likeness, I find myself mirroring their emotions. If I'm given a photograph to work with I try to imagine what they might have been feeling. So if someone is smiling in their portrait, I find myself smiling too because it helps me feel the muscles on my face to match the face I’m painting. By doing this, I feel more connected to who I am painting even though we may have never met before. This process reminds me we are all the same and human! Further down this page, you’ll also see my pet portrait series. I’d love to create pet portraits of your fur baby!
